ACNE SCARS

Acne scars are the result of inflamed lesions, such as papules, pustules, or cysts. This inflammation occurs when the skin pore is clogged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. The swelling then leads to a break in the follicle wall, causing the infected material to spill out into the dermis and damage healthy skin tissue.

The repair that is then necessary to fix the damage can lead to an acne scar. Unfortunately, the greater the inflammation, the more likely scarring is to occur.
