What is RESTYLANE-L?
Restylane-L is an FDA-approved, hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler used to treat the perioral lines, lips, and nasolabial folds. The ‘L’ after its name indicates the presence of lidocaine, an anesthetic. Restylane-L is thinner than Restylane Lyft and Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC. Because of its consistency, the filler is effectively used in off-label treatment of under-eye hollows and tear troughs.

faq
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Side effects are minimal, but may include swelling, tenderness, redness, itching, bruising, or pain at the injection site. The side effects are temporary and should resolve within two weeks of treatment. Before undergoing treatment, it’s important to disclose all of the medications the patient is currently taking, as they may increase the risks of certain side effects such as bruising or infection.
IS RESTYLANE-L THE SAME AS RESTYLANE LYFT?
Though Restylane-L and Restylane Lyft both contain lidocaine, boost volume, and minimize the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles, Restylane Lyft has a thicker consistency, delivering more robust results. Restylane-L is the versatile filler designed to treat multiple areas, including perioral lines, lips, and nasolabial folds. The filler may be used off-label in the upper half of the face to address under eye hollows. Restylane Lyft, on the other hand, is specifically designed to increase fullness and minimize the appearance of wrinkles in the cheeks, mid-face, and the hands.
ARE THE INJECTIONS PAINFUL?
The injections are nonsurgical and minimally invasive. A trained cosmetic professional has the experience and knowledge necessary to ensure treatment doesn’t cause pain. At most, patients may experience discomfort. The lidocaine in the filler ensures treatment is painless. Though patients may experience some bruising and redness at the injections site, these should resolve within two weeks after treatment.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS LIKE?
After treatment, the patient should avoid exposure to intense heat; this includes sunlight, sun lamps, hot showers, and sauna. Heat can exacerbate swelling.
To reduce the risk of increased bruising, patients should avoid taking aspirin, St. John’s wort, anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. ibuprofen), and high doses of vitamin E. It’s important to follow the cosmetic provider’s instructions to experience the best possible results.
