ABOUT SMARTGRAFT'S FUE TECHNOLOGY

During hair transplantation, living and growing hair follicles are redistributed from a donor area to a balding or thinning recipient area. Most patients do not require strong pain medications and return to non-impact physical activity in a matter of days.

Other machines that use FUE technology exist, but SmartGraft reduces manual handling, trauma, and potential damage to the harvested grafts. Once the SmartGraft has separated the selected hair follicles from surrounding tissue, gentle suction is used to remove the graft from the scalp. Other FUE devices require additional manual manipulation from a human before implantation, but SmartGraft gently transfers each harvested hair follicle into a specialized storage system that carefully preserves the graft.

Weakened hair production and hair loss are treatable. Whether you are experiencing areas of slowed hair growth with thinner and fewer hair follicles or areas with hair loss where hair follicles no longer appear, PRP treatment can help you. PRP utilizes growth factors in your own blood — platelet-rich plasma — which studies have demonstrated can stimulate existing hair follicles and encourage the growth of new ones.

After you have received your PRP treatment, your body will respond with improved hair growth and new hair generation. Hair growth is not a rapid process, so it will take several months for visible results to appear. Most patients notice improvements in the treated areas as soon as six months after their PRP treatment. Full results of PRP appear for most patients after 12 months. Your results will include thicker, existing hair follicles as well as new follicle growth in previously bald areas.

The length of time that you enjoy results can vary from patient to patient. Most patients continue to experience improvements after 12 months following their PRP treatments. The long-lasting results vary per patient, but are generally experienced for 18 to 24 months.

What Can I Expect From Treatment?

PRP hair restoration is a quick, outpatient treatment that is done after having had a prior full, in-person examination and consultation. On the day of your treatment, our licensed staff will draw your blood and centrifuge it to separate the platelets and plasma, which will be used for your hair restoration, from other blood cells. Your medical provider will verify the concentration of platelets and plasma necessary is present to administer to you. You will receive the PRP as injections to the scalp, which will be first cleansed with an antiseptic. The very small, hair-like needles will produce virtually no pain as PRP is administered. After you have received your injections, your PRP treatment will be complete, and your results will appear over time.

Am I a Candidate?

If you are experiencing thinning hair, fewer active hair follicles and areas of baldness, you are likely a candidate for a PRP hair restoration treatment. Schedule an in-person consultation with New Skin & Body to verify this. Your provider will study your medical history and diagnose the cause of your hair thinning or hair loss. Once diagnosed, the proper treatment can be identified, which may be PRP restoration. Patients with certain blood conditions may not have PRP treatments, so discuss any known issues during your initial consultation. Also, if you are currently experiencing severe depletion of hair follicles in your concerned areas, you may benefit more from alternative treatments.

What Is Recovery Like?

There is minimal to no recovery after a PRP restoration treatment. A few patients will experience mild redness or swelling in the treatment are, however, many do not. You may wash your hair and scalp a few hours after treatment and resume all your regular exercise routines the next day. If you take Minoxidil or other hair treatments, you may resume those the next day as well. For the first 72 hours, hair coloring or other harsh treatments should be avoided, however.

Is PRP Treatment Safe?

PRP uses nourishing platelets found in your own body in your blood. These platelets are drawn with your blood using sterile instruments and medical best practices to ensure their purity throughout your treatment before being returned to your body. As a result, a PRP treatment has much lower risks when compared with other cosmetic treatments and patients tolerate PRP very well.

How Many Treatment Sessions Will I Need?

Most patients typically need between four and six sessions of PRP to obtain the visible difference in the hair quality and volume they desire. These sessions will be spaced approximately three to five weeks apart. Follow-up sessions can be scheduled as needed about 12 to 18 months after your final treatment, or as needed.
