What is RESTYLANE CONTOUR?

Woman touching cheek after Restylane Contour

Restylane Contour is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler designed to restore volume in the midface — specifically the cheeks. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body, but the hyaluronic acid in the filler is modified to last longer.

Aging causes skin to lose elasticity and volume, which can lead to drooping skin that shifts downwards and creates hollows in the facial features. Restylane Contour can be used to temporarily add fullness to the cheeks and restore volume in the midface in adults ages 21 and over. Results may last up to 12 months.

81.8% (45/55) of patients in Group B who received the filler using a cannula and 90.9% (50/55) of subjects treated with Restylane Contour using a needle had at least a 1-point improvement in midface volume 6 months after treatment
62.8 % (81/129) of patients treated with Restylane Contour in Group A had at least a 1-point improvement in midface volume 12 months after treatment

During the initial consultation, the specialist will ask questions about the patient’s medical history, allergies, current medications, and treatment goals and expectations. Patients should mention if they have severe allergies with a history of severe reactions (anaphylaxis) or multiple severe allergies. The specialist will also need to know if the patient is allergic to the anesthetic lidocaine or to any of the proteins used to formulate the hyaluronic acid in Restylane Contour (bacterial proteins).
